Irvine, CA – Elaborating on the recent news that the remastered Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will not feature highly requested online improvements such as rollback netcode on launch, Atlus representative Dale Benton explained today that they’re waiting to consider these upgrades at a later date just in case the modding community fixes the netcode first.
“We’ve been listening to the fans and the demand for better netcode is clear,” said Benton. “And while various online improvements like rollback netcode are not planned for the remaster on launch, we will consider implementing these changes at a later date once we’ve had enough time to make sure modders aren’t going to fix things first.”
“We don’t even know if it’s realistic for the netcode to be meaningfully improved through mods,” acknowledged Benton. “But fans have done some pretty impressive work on other fighting games so who really knows? We’ll have to just wait and see. Besides, that would be a waste if we spent all that time and money making something that the fans will do first, especially if theirs is better.”
“So we hope you’re looking forward to this latest edition of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax when it launches this March,” concluded Benton. “Without a shadow of a doubt it’s the best version of the game yet, and I’m sure it will get even better in time.”
When asked if Atlus will commit to upgrading the netcode themselves in the event that the modding community doesn’t, Benton declined to comment.
