Chicago, IL – Today NetherRealm studios revealed that their upcoming title Mortal Kombat 11 would feature a new option to let players send online hate mail automatically.
“We really wanted to make the game more accessible,” said NetherRealm employee Grant Haynes. “We often notice players have trouble with some of the inputs at first. The new auto hate mail system will allow anyone to jump right in, press a few buttons, and get a taste of what Mortal Kombat is all about.”
Haynes was quick to remind us that this addition won’t be at the expense of any depth. “Keep in mind that the new mechanic is not a replacement for manually written hate mail,” he added. “The automatic messages will only be about 30% as effective as the more optimal hate mail you see from high level players. They are just a starting point for new players to get used to the game.”
Many seem excited to try the new feature. “I’ve always liked Mortal Kombat but in the past I’ve had trouble inputting the long insult-filled messages the series is known for,” said local gamer Steven Nielsen. “Now all I have to do is mash the square button and I can tell my opponent that they’re a spammer bitch with no skill. I can’t wait.”
Meanwhile some series veterans aren’t sold on the new mechanic. “This is a pointless mechanic to make the series even more dumbed-down,” said competitive player ThaScorpionX. “Why even play a video game if you can’t be bothered to write your own insults and send them to other players? Next they’re gonna make the game rage quit for you too.”
Mortal Kombat 11 is one of the most highly anticipated new fighting games of the year and it’s easy to see why. The new game is set to release this April.
